What It’s Like to Walk on Water

Do you know what it is to skip a stone on a calm lake?

Finding the right one; roundish, with good enough heft.

Throwing it sideways underhand.

Making the broad stone flat bottom plane over the water surface.

Then touching down softly.

And, the satisfaction of seeing the stone skip, skip, skip . . .

You’d think it will never stop.

But, it does. Stop, that is.

And you look for another.

And do it again.

Each time some of you goes with that rock.

Briefly, you walk on water.

If you pay attention, you can feel it.
