Earliest Times ...

I spent my childhood growing up in a Detroit neighborhood known famously as Poletown*. Alas, it is no more. Detroit gave the heart of it to General Motors to site a new Cadillac plant. 

According to a the Detroit Historical Society ... "Under eminent domain, it was the most number of people ever moved in the shortest amount of time in the United States."
